This Thursday saw some rather unexpected movements in the stock market, as the Federal Reserve pledged to maintain low interest rates over the coming years. As a result, both the gold price and the silver price took a dive, while the dollar rose in the wake of an optimistic outlook for an economic recovery.

The gold price analysis, in particular, took an unpleasant hit as prices dipped roughly 1%. So what happens to gold when the Fed cuts interest rates is obviously not great. But it’s promised to keep the yellow metal in mind by pledging to have the near zero interest rate in place only until inflation levels exceed 2%.

But with the ripple effect of the Fed interest rates, trading the Dow Jones was shook up as well. In fact, the index was down more than 250 points, and both S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 were affected similarly.
