What is PIVX?

PIVX is a financial user data protection-oriented cryptocurrency using the ZK based SHIELD protocol allowing the users an option to choose whether users want to send and receive coins transparently (just like Bitcoin), or privately without revealing any of the sensitive financial data that is usually freely floating publicly on blockchain, visible on block explorers. SHIELD protocol is running on the advanced and highly customized Proof of Stake consensus algorithm. PIVX is a DAO, a Decentralized Autonomous Organization, which is governed by its community members through the built-in blockchain based governance model. It is self-funded by the PIVX treasury which is being voted on and allocated on a monthly basis.

With PIVX 100% of the transaction fees in PIVX are being burned

Cold Staking contracts, which allows users to stake their coins while they are being safely stored offline or on a hardware wallet. This way users don’t even need to waste a cent on electricity costs nor run the wallet online, while at the same time receiving staking rewards.

Masternodes, which are securing the network, ensuring higher level of network decentralization with currently more than 1700 active masternodes running on the PIVX network. They are also allowing the decentralized governance by giving each masternode owner a voting right (1 masternode = 1 vote). Masternode rewards are currently around 9% per year. So, masternodes and staking nodes together are ensuring very stable and decentralized PIVX network with at least 2500 full nodes running across the globe.

What is coming for PIVX in 2022?

As SHIELD just became a strong base for the upcoming developments and features, PIVX developers are already working on PIVX is already working on some of the following features coming out by the end of the year or early in 2022:
1) Deterministic Masternodes – masternode lists that are fully derived from on-chain data. They will also allow sending masternode rewards to an address in another wallet and delegating voting power to another address. It makes PIVX one step closer to fully rely on building the apps and services running on top of the PIVX masternode network.
2) SHIELD staking – possibility to stake even the shielded coins, not only the transparent coins. With SHIELD staking, PIVX will have larger shield coins pool which will increase the overall network privacy.
3) Staking pool operators – allows the creation of staking pools where users don’t need to find a block to get rewarded. The pool operator collects all the rewards, subtracts his fee, and then redistributes the remaining part across all stakers, percentually based on the amount of delegated coins.
