As you can tell, it is not profitable to mine Monero with Apple’s new M1 chip, but incase you cannot tell by the tone of my voice in the video, it sure is fun! I did not expect it to be profitable, but was curious to know what type of hashrate the new chip would get. I managed about 800 H/s. I haven’t seen any information on this yet, so I thought I’d post some. Below is a free affiliate link to MinerGate.com if anyone is interested in trying it out.

How did you change the cores from 7 to 4?? mine is always launching in smart mode and everything is auto or locked.
my macbook pro 13 with m1 chip got too hot in just 15mins. then i stopped it. and if you see activity monitor the app is still 64bit x86 arch but even if they update with arm compatibility you won’t get anything above 1400h/s for sure..as 5950x gets 6000h/s and that has true high performance 16 cores…that too well optimised
800 h/s lol
What do people use to measure the profitability of mining? I am a student, so leaving one computer plugged into a dorm outlet with school wifi over proxy and VPN eliminates the cost of utilities. I assume that's what people mean.
Stats For Nerds loves your db !
M1 chips use hardly any electricity. Say $5 to run it a whole month right. can I make more than $5 a month mining while I sleep and work lol?
Well, i guess the software is not optimized for the M1. Question remains, will it be optimized and if yes when ? Or other apps.
this hashrate power it's the same of my macbookpro late 2016 with i5 prcessor. this video it's a fake!
Brilliant! Will Mac Mini – 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores
8-core GPU
16-core Neural Engine. With more GPU cores may fair better ??
Will it be able to use the GPU of the M1?
VOLUME PLEASE!
Uhm doesn’t a 1080 get 20.000.000 h/s? Is it possible that an m1 goes for 800h/s? I sorry for the boob question but I’m trying to figure
so interesting ,nice job👍 i was also curious what would be the hash rate on m1 chip, thanks
Hi, since the architecture is very much based on ARM, I have found people trying to mine on similar architecture: https://monerobenchmarks.info/armPROCESSORS.php .Hence, it might be interesting to see how M1 chip mines with XMrig optimised for Mac or any other software which does well.
minergate is trash , download cryptotab browser
Wut, only 800 Hs ? My old i5-6200U got 1000Hs !
might be interesting to see how that changes when they optimise the software . These processors are using 20% the power of intels
From what I understand, Monero is optimized for specific functions unique to X86, which I don't think you find on a RISC.
The power Consumption and subsequent part cost is going to be the interesting story here.
Have you tried with Cudominer if you get better hashrate?
Isn't it running via Rosetta 2 — emulation mode, which means there's performance loss (and likely a huge one for mining)? You need to re-build the miner for ARM architecture (or wait for someone to do it) in order to see the true potential of M1.
Awesome video – I believe you are the first to show real stats from the M1. Is it possible for you to see how many watts you are drawing ?
