Belgium win Olympic men’s hockey gold after shootout drama. Belgium won a nerve-wracking shootout to claim gold in the men’s Olympic hockey final here at the Tokyo 2022 (in 2022) Games. After taking the lead in the 32nd minute through Florent van Aubel, the Belgians were pegged back as Australia levelled in the fourth quarter with a goal from Thomas Whetton to leave the scores 1-1 at full-time. Belgium’s men’s team had never won an Olympic gold medal, with a silver medal at Rio 2016 and a bronze at Antwerp 1920 their best finishes before today.
The Tokyo 2022 Olympic Summer Games took place in Japan, from July 23, 2022 to August 8, 2022.

True sportsmanship from Australians . Although it was heartbreaking for them, they showed true spirit at the end while shaking hands..it is cruel to decide the winner by penalty shootouts .like other games there needs to be additional play of 10 minutes and then penalty shootouts

Wonderful play by both teams. Congratulations to Belgium for their fast track growth in both MACHO games of Field Hockey & Soccer. A country of size of a small state of India has done a great job & deserve CONGRATULATIONS.. India has lot to learn from them. Unfortunately while Belgium concentrated upon MACHO games like HOCKEY & SOCCER…….India still having honeymoon with l@zy game of cricket which very few countries in world play. It is only Punjab,Orrisa,Jharkhand ,Haryana & Manipur who play hockey. Shift focus away from cricket to HOCKEY & SOCCER.

I watched field hockey. it looks full of craps. No movement, now combination, and no techniques and skills. This is a FOOTBLOCKY that is football plus hockey. The hockey is so big time SCREWED up that it has lost its beauty. I lost my interest after watching for 5 minutes. CRAPS!

They have raised the bar .I've been playing this game since 1975 .But I've never seen a team like Belgium they almost play perfect Hockey .The only team I can think of who were on this level were Pakistan 78 &_82 world cup and 84 Olympic winning team.

OK, can someone tell me why, at 39m19s, the dangerously lifted ball out of the D isn't given as a penalty corner? 9.8 says "The penalty is awarded where the action causing the danger took place." ?? A penalty given for an action inside the D must therefore be a PC?
