The global economy is in crisis. The exponential exhaustion of natural resources, declining productivity, slow growth, rising unemployment, and steep inequality, forces us to rethink our economic models. Where do we go from here? In this feature-length documentary, social and economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin lays out a road map to usher in a new economic system.
A Third Industrial Revolution is unfolding with the convergence of three pivotal technologies: an ultra-fast 5G communication internet, a renewable energy internet, and a driverless mobility internet, all connected to the Internet of Things embedded across society and the environment.
This 21st century smart digital infrastructure is giving rise to a radical new sharing economy that is transforming the way we manage, power and move economic life. But with climate change now ravaging the planet, it needs to happen fast. Change of this magnitude requires political will and a profound ideological shift.

The problem is greed. We have kicked the people out.
What about the small guy 🤔
how you;all enjoying the cold winter ? with out fossil fuels? monopoly man , brainwashed you.
So how does one go camping if people won't be driving in the future ? Will people also not be going camping in the future?
Donald trump made america energy independent and Joe biden screwed it all up.
Don’t forget China has and is 100% lying about everything they say they are going to do and what they actually do. The belt and Road initiative is simply a plan to enslave all the countries it runs through and touches from a distance. They are only after power by Placing deals and projects upon the countries that they cannot pay back and then China takes possession at horrible consequences for the Country. If you purchase anything made in China you are endorsing large scale slavery, organ harvesting, genocide, massive world pollution and of course intellectual property theft on a global scale. As our governments won’t do anything about them you must I must. How do you deal with that country that does not want to play your game sir?
Four years later I wonder how many of his words he would repeat. With the Mad maga’s and the delirious Democrats in the United States, the blowing up of life supporting gas pipelines to Europe due to a war Russia has created, and especially the Chinese coronavirus that has infected the world like a cancer, the world economic forum‘s plan to run the world. None of this seems to align with your vision sir everybody get out there and counteract as best you can
al gore told us the same story they been telling us. nothing changed.

Extremely well done economics and core sustainability and wlequity, really a must on our planet!
A very interesting and complex discussion. It was very educational to watch it, and we can just understand how much we need to still do out there for a better future for our children and families, communities.
So, in Brooklyn, Vice couldn't create an audience that was not predominately Caucasian? Please give this comment a read and not dismiss it as someone just mad about race. It's important to be sure that these conversations and knowledge are being shared across all boarders and culture lines. Because in the future he's discussing, it has already been proven that the caucasian race will be the minority. If the caucasians with all this knowledge and insight and experience do not make an intentional effort to share and include a more diverse spectrum of people, the future he is describing will be lost. Simply because black and brown people were not privy to the knowledge. I'm not saying they intentionally were bias against black and brown people for the taping of this discussion. But it's clear no intentional effort was put into being sure more black and brown people were included. Yes there are sprinkles but it should be at least 50-50. It is undeniable, caucasians are at the front of the research, at the front of the companies who will do the planning and the hiring and the training, and at the front of the entities who create the narrative. This is a simple truth that is a result of our social systems of the past. OK cool, nbd. These systems are changing and biases are erasing. But if the efforts of inclusion are not aggressively intentional in these efforts to create a better tomorrow, it may not be successful if there isn't enough representation of black and brown people to inform their families and neighbors about why these changes are important.
He has apple sauce in his voice-mouth.
he just saying what people want to hear. If he did any research and pulled his head out of Elons ass. He would realize how little leaders in the third world care about this. All the components to this utopia require destroying more land for minerals. The manufacturing of such electronic products and steel infrastructure. The self-promoted green countries don't use solar and windmills. they burn leftover forest waste called renewables, go nuclear or create hydroelectric dams. he does not mention, because all three are not great for the environment. All human products are bad. No invention can help. if we all quit manufacturing everything and anything like the pandemic times will anything change.
Sounds like a snake oil salesman

Aggregated efficiency. Frederick Soddy tried 100 years ago and nobodie listened him
The sharing economy makes a little more sense. However there will always be the social classes driven by profit motives. Individuals can rent or borrow cool toys and the wealthy will own and lend these items and prices will increase marginally however hopefully decrease by innovation.
1:29:10 "We have to begin to create a new plan…"
It's called: 'Central Planning', try to keep up ☭.
I think what's most irritating about this video, is that young people have been saying all of these things to guys like this for decades, if not entire generations, only for it to fall on deaf ears. Then, once it's abundantly clear that not only were we correct (all along) in our assessments, but that it might already be too late to address the problems, the very same conservative, pencil necked economics nerds that shouted us down as "hopeless idealists" have the nerve to get up in front of a room full of people half their age – who already know better than him – and pontificate about it like it was their idea all along, and we need to catch up. Typical boomer narcissism: 'Do what I say, not what I do'.
Also, it's the 'Fourth Industrial Revolution', not the "Third". Did he even research his own talk?
1:26:45 It's called Permaculture, dude.
1:13:46 "We're not gonna pay people just to do nothing…"
Then it will fail, because that's EXACTLY what needs to be done.
11:11:58 "There's no reason why everyone shouldn't be generating their own electricity…"
Um…
-Poverty?
-Inequality?
-Mass Unemployment?
-Private ownership of the means of production?
1:07:00 "I'm beginning to sense a shift from geopolitics to biosphere consciousness."
That started over half a century ago, dude. Go read your Whole Earth Catalog.🌎
1:02:05 "I don't think capitalism is gonna disappear."
Arch Duke Bezos tends to disagree.
21:58 "Wouldn't you think economists would know where productivity comes from? Because that's the basis of the discipline."
No, the basis of the discipline is Public Relations. (cue emotionally manipulative piano music with soft focus outdoor B-roll)
Brain washing at it's vfinest
Imagine having two first names like Walter Benjamin. Big L if you ask me.
Well the Bible talks about days in which pestilence, floods, drought, earth quakes and all sort of earthly destruction will be prevalent on earth, which will cause a massive decline leading to the rise of antichrist who will unite and deliver humanity only to establish his reign
NUCLEAR ENERGY WAS THE WAY , NOW THERE IS NO TIME …. SO WHY CARE ?
Look I'm not saying he's wrong or anything I'm sincerely asking why is it that every single one of these Elite very rich people who are the biggest proponents of global warming and continuously tell us that oh all the coasts and all these other places are going to be underwater just like they told us the same thing a few decades ago and it seems to change every decade give or take where it's going to be Mass flooding or the ozone layer is gone and every time it's oh this is happening right now this isn't a decade from now or a thousand years from now this is happening right now! And every single time it doesn't happen so they change to another narrative you can actually look it up and you'll see which ones they were pushing at what time and how each time they said that there was this particular timeline and when that timeline got close to being over they would stop talking about it so much and then after that timeline was expired all of a sudden they would have a new part of global warming to push and a new timeline of when the world was going to end! My question is the people with the most money on the planet like he was just talking about there's only so many of them and there's a large group of the top couple thousand richest people in the world and they're the biggest proponents of global catastrophes and how we're all screwed! Why is it that every single one of them already has or is buying or is getting more property right on the waterfront! They're saying 10 years from now you know all of us will be underwater! Why are you all and I mean all of them every one of them is spending millions and millions of dollars on waterfront real estate! Is it so people have a really cool place to scuba dive in a few years? I don't understand why would they all/ own Waterfront properties? It's not like it's one or two of them or a few! No! Literally every freaking one of them has spent millions of dollars on houses and properties that they say are absolutely no doubt about it going to be completely submerged under water in just a few years!! Don't shoot the messenger I'm just asking! I'm truly curious as to why they would do this! I don't care how much money I have… if I knew something was going to be completely submerged underwater in a catastrophe I certainly wouldn't be spending money on it let alone millions and millions of dollars!
Brilliant! This is my first chance to actually be able to listen to this at home. I love it I love it I love it.
Absolutely
TED talks do not qualify as a documentary
I would like to hear what Michael Hudson thought to this chat.
its on vice so that means a rich slave master paid this guy to lie to you hip young people and told you your hard labour and owning nothing and paying 6 new taxes will save the world. wake up these same rich people telling you the planet is dying are the ones that own mines destroying their "planets" magnetism, its the rich dumping pollution directly into the oceans and seas, its the rich that get your governments to put toxins in your food and water, its the rich that now want you to further limit your life while they still get to live like kardashians. wake up they are lying to you. its all to take you away from our Creator because they are afraid of Creator
One thing that bugs me with this talk: No explanaition to WHY we should replace nuclear power with "renewable energy" and then he presents the worst examples possible: Denmark and Germany, two contries depending on fossil fuel and imported electricity from neighbouring countries with nuclear power. Dont fall for this crap, look at California and Australia, there is no such thing as 100% renewable energy anywhere and nuclear power still holds its place with the least co2 output.
Second,: grazing land and land used to grow hay for animals is generally unsuited to grow vegetables so its not like there is shortage of land due to raising animals. And most countries dont use irrigation to grow hay, there is such a thing as rain, and grass tends to grow quite well from it.
Also, how does cow burps lead to the conclusion that we should stop eating meat, as opposed to, we should stop using dairy and stop eating beef. Humans let out way more methane so maybe adtress that issue? Transforming grass into something we actually CAN eat is hardly wasteful.
Climate change Yes. Man made – minimal
