Before I watch the video I have only one question:
Can I use Visual Studio on Linux?
"Why linux is really hYpEd among programmers…" Proceeds to open linux mint and type at 40 wpm while looking at the keyboard like grandma
I died a little every time he said Linux was an operating system, when he said apt-get was "the package manager in linux," and when he used wsl
I work on both and it makes no difference. On Windows all tools you need are available and the same goes for Linux. And I don't have to reboot my system while programming? Wth… My workflow on Windows barely differs from my workflow on Linux aswell and the Windows tools are more than sufficient for programming and as powerful as they need to be. The error messages on Windows are more than sufficient for most cases. And hell, I can customize windows a lot.
Hurr durr, my kung fu is better than your kung fu. Windows and Linux are both sufficient and I chose either of them based on the job I want to get done…
Remember, never drink and sudo..
It's better because Richard Stallman wiped Windows partition when I asked him to signed my laptop.
Microsoft is like America. Dishonest, bloated, unethical, flawed, useless and expensive.
One thing apt is NOT the universal package manager Fedora/CentOS/RHEL use dnf and rpm and Arch Linux (please don't "i use arch btw") uses pacman
Ngl windows jas caught up,with wsl 2 and so many open source projects
Windows might become extremely popular again.
But coding in Linux is another experience
Programmers who also happen to be graphic designers: must be nice, being able to easily renounce Microsoft or Apple
I’ve worked in cyber security for years. While malware is more prevalent on Windows it certainly still exists on MacOS, Linux and any other operating system. Please continue to do best practices- enable real-time malware detection and enable the firewall. There’s much more that can be done but those are basics anyone can do.
MS Visual studio is the best. It is stable and you get to write code….not install and configure the whole time
appreciate your last idea about customization in Linux. I think it can be a special way people deal with operating system and GUI. Although Mac OS and Windows seems to provide classic GUI for the user, they don't get enough access to modify and tweak your desktop. In Linux, I believe many people are willing to spend some time choosing them own style of desktop and going in-depth for exploration.
When did you start to use Linux? And what distro?
You used MAC computers. They are basicaly UNIX computers, All Linux perks are there. Except customization. Plus You get better software support, like Microsoft teams, Office365, Dropbox etc.
Linux for programming, mac for office and windows for gaming
Kali Linux is bad
No rebooting is stupid. Unless you are running a server its good practice to reboot weekly, or when updating the kernel. Tho I have a laptop that has a 62 day up time with no problems rn.
3:04 apt-get install is so last decade. apt install is what the new kids are using.
– Intro too long
– Mark the topics, that makes it easier for the user to jump into the desired content
I remember about 10 years ago a friend decided he wanted to install a torrent client and download and play a game in Linux. He's an expert and it took him the entire day to get it working, whereas in windows it would have taken an hour at most. 10 years later nothing has changed.
